Film Journal Assignment
How to add pages to your blog:
You will be adding separate pages to your blog for each journal assignment. There will be eight at the end of the semester. On your blog (if you are using blogger but similar with other formats) sign in and then go to Design. Click on Posting>Edit Pages, give your post the film title such as The Gold Rush and you can copy and paste your content in the post box from a word document or just type directly. On the bar you can also add photos or other interesting elements if you wish. Be sure to save and publish; then view blog to make sure it attached properly. After clicking on Design, you can drag your page elements to just under your title and that will give you tabs for each assignment. If you click on “edit” it will open a new window that will allow you to remove pages or rearrange the order. Remember to always Save and Publish and then to view blog.
Required Journal Content
This is a semester long project that will require you to view the eight class screenings and apply information from lectures, text material and research material to what has been viewed. You will need to post the journal assignment to your blog within one week of screening. This journal takes the place of a major research project. Each film entry be approximately two to three typewritten (double-spaced) pages and must use the following format. Please number each answer or use the whole heading.
1) Relate what was discussed in class or the text to the screening.
2) Find a related article (on the film, director, studio, actor/actress, artistic content, etc.) You can use the library or the internet. Cite the article or copy the url to your journal entry. Summarize the related article but do not plagiarize any content.
3) Relate the article to the screening.
4) Write a critical analysis of the film, including your personal opinion, formed as a result of the screening, class discussions, text material and the article.
